What does it cost to live decently in Houston?

Have you ever wondered how much money it takes to live a “comfortable” life in Houston? According to the Economic Policy Institute, you need $63,600 a year to have an “adequate but modest” living for a family of two adults and two children.

Surprisingly, the biggest estimated cost isn’t rent/mortgage (at $945 a month) but health care (estimated at $1,380). Child care came in as the second-highest cost (at $961 a month).

By the way, the poverty threshold is $23,283 in the US.
