Radio News, 24 hours a day, coming to Houston — Mike Barajas to join (UPDATED)

Saturday will mark the debut of News 92 Radio station, an all-news, all-day radio station. The station is being converted from a gospel station and will provide, what some think, is a much-needed news radio option for Houstonians. Houston CultureMap is reporting that the station will have local long-time radio and news personalities including J.P. Pritchard, Lana Hughes, Mike Barajas, Carolyn Campbell, Lanny Griffith, and Pattie Shieh. You will note that there are radio and tv personalities in this list. Should be an interesting mix.

Barajas was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Ward earlier this year by the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals after his contract with Fos 26 ended.

UPDATE: the launch has been delayed — “Here’s the latest update from the newsroom at News 92 FM. We will launch precisely at 5 AM, next Thursday, November 17th. Set your radio dials now for AWESOME.”
