Meet the Media: Minerva Perez

I first met Minerva through the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals. I was the membership chair during two terms, at least one of which she served as president. So, as I point you to her show and suggest that you watch, you need to know that I’ve known her for quite literally years, have served on a board with her, have worked with her in coordinating a national conference, have been introduced to new restaurants through lunches and dinners with her, and have celebrated her triumphs whenever I could.

Minerva is the creator and one of the hosts of Latina Voices, “an innovative, English language, half-hour television and Internet-streamed talk show of mainstream topics with a Latina perspective. Like the Oprah Show, Latina Voices addresses politics; business; pop culture; health trends; entertainment; women’s issues and other newsworthy and timely topics of value to professional Latinos and the mainstream audience.” Minerva’s cohost is Sofia Adrogué.

The show tackles topics and invites speakers that you’re not going to see on other shows. Check out their guest list to see what I mean. The show itself started out of a side project Minerva did after leaving KTRK, Houston’s ABC affiliate. The show has been running on Houston’s PBS station and is now available on KHOU CBS
