Hispanic retirement challenges

The Houston Business Journal is reporting that a new study from Prudential Financial shows that 15% of US Hispanics are supporting older family members. This is twice the rate of the general population, which is 6%.

The study also showed that Hispanic Americans have less access to workplace-based retirement plans and, even when they do have access, they are still less likely to contribute to retirement plans.

Retirement planning is a learned behavior. We learn from others and then we teach our children. So let’s take the first step by learning about what to do; let’s take the next step in doing it; then let’s teach others in our community, including the next generation.
