HISD-TV Keeps More Parents in the Loop with its Growing Lineup of Spanish Language Programs

Houston Independent School District Television (HISD-TV) has a powerful tool that takes learning to the web as well as the classroom. As a media partner with Houston’s Voice, HISD-TV broadcasts programs that showcase partners like NASA and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. As one of the most diverse school districts in our nation, HISD-TV also provides Spanish language news.

Programming includes “Aprendamos Juntos,” which features interviews with students and staff from the District’s 279 schools located across the city of Houston. Its new episode describes a $1.89 billion dollar bond referendum on the ballot for the upcoming November election to build new high schools. The episode also focuses on getting out the Hispanic vote. “We’re excited that Houston’s Voice gives us another outlet to share some of the great initiatives and programs happening at HISD, particularly with the city’s Hispanic audience,” says Sarah Greer Osborne, HISD-TV Multimedia Manager/Executive Producer.

HISD’s officials are not the only people to have the spotlight. HISD-TV features fine arts performances from student groups such as Travis Elementary School and the Parker Elementary School Strings performers.

Special education, sports, budget news, and many more topics pack HISD-TV’s programming. The shows are intended to inform parents on some of the enlightening, inspiring programs that the District has to offer. For more information, go to
