1099.is, tax information for freelancers

With tax season coming up, I was glad to come across 1099.is, “a new initiative launched by the Collaborative Fund.” The site crowdsources information about tax liability for freelancers.

Earning income using services like Etsy, eBay, Kickstarter, Airbnb, and TaskRabbit has never been easier. In fact, people are even quitting their ‘traditional’ jobs to work solely on these platforms. Unfortunately, understanding the tax implications from this income is difficult. 1099 is here to try and help you to understand your taxes in the Sharing Economy.

Basically, you post a question and someone answers, if someone hasn’t already posed the question previously. It’s interesting. Don’t forget the disclaimer: check with a tax professional before proceeding.
